FEE REDUCTION FOR OFFICIALS ANNOUNCED
Over the last two years, Speedway Australia has worked hard to bring down the cost of licensing for Officials. Stewards and Scrutineers were the first to benefit, with their $140 licence reducing in stages to $25.
As part of the new licensing system rollout, we are pleased to advise that ALL track and divisional officials are now able to access a $25 annual licence. One of the aims of this initiative is to ensure as many people as possible have access to complimentary personal accident insurance while at the race track. This reduces the likelihood of public liability claims that history has shown leads to unaffordable insurance increases and track closures.
Another goal of the new licensing system is to reduce red tape and the reliance on the postal system. The obvious cost savings in printing and posting are being channelled into this 80% reduction in licence fees for nominated officials.
The $25 Officials licence will enable valued staff and volunteers to have complimentary personal accident insurance while undertaking the nominated role, but they will still need to upgrade their licence in the event that they end up competing or acting as a pit crew member.
One further note. While we are trying to move to a completely cardless system as quickly as possible, but Stewards and Scruitineers will still need their hard copy Level 1, 2 3 or 4 Racing Officials Card in the interim. We intend to integrate these into the electronic system as soon as we can.
