McFADDEN - “IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE WORLD SERIES!”
Freshly crowned World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year James McFadden is primed for his return to Boxing Day racing this Sunday after an impressive win at Warrnambool last weekend.
“It almost feels like World Series,” he laughed, as he prepares for the annual December 26 road trip to Murray Bridge South Australia to be a part of the Speedway Australia backed Sprintcar States Series opener this Sunday.
“It wouldn’t be Christmas in Australia without Speedweek, and even though it's not the full-blown World Series that we're used to, hats off to everyone who has come together to make sure the fans, racers and tracks can still have quality racing during the summer.”
McFadden and the Monte Motorsport outfit will be one of a number of teams that will embark on the traditional four Speedweek dates between South Australia and Victoria, and despite his impressive form, he faces an imposing list of combatants throughout the run that includes two-time national champion David Murcott and the in-form Matt Egel along with Sydney’s Matt and Marcus Dumesny.
“Winning races is tough anywhere in the world at the moment and this week won’t be any different, but my focus is slightly adjusted to be more around family. Don’t get me wrong, my job is to win races, but this year will be more like a holiday with some racing rather than the intense slog that Speedweek can be.”
“At the end of the day, we’re a racing family so it’s great that we can holiday together and it happens to be at racetracks where I can be with the fans as well!” he laughed.
From Murray Bridge, the cavalcade will head to Mount Gambier on December 28, Avalon Speedway in Lara Victoria on December 30 and then New Years Day at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.
The five-time World Series Champion will then head to Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway for three nights before returning to Victoria for domestic racing before the family of three board a flight back to the USA to embark on a second full time year with the World of Outlaws, switching to the Roth Motorsports #83 entry.
