SPEEDWAY'S BIG WEEKEND OF THE YEAR IS NEARLY HERE

SPEEDWAY'S BIG WEEKEND OF THE YEAR IS NEARLY HERE

Speedway Australia are counting down the days until Saturday June 3 when the third annual Australian Speedway Industry Expo is held at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Speedway Australia CEO Darren Tindal was buzzing about the growth of the expo, after last year’s Victoria Pavilion was deemed too small for 2023.

“The response to the Expo this year has been overwhelming, and we are set for a great day with every national division on display along with multiple other exhibitors, leaving no room in the Town Square Pavilion.

This event is rapidly becoming the day that all of Speedway comes together and will be capped off by the Australian Speedway Awards and Hall of Fame inductions later that night.”

Divisional bodies, parts suppliers, fabricators, merchandisers, and retailers connected to speedway racing in Australia will be on show from 9am to 4pm.

Entry to the expo is free, with free showbags for the first 1000 people through the door.

Later that night Australian Speedway’s Night of Nights will be conducted in the Victoria Pavilion, where we acknowledge the highest achievers across our sport, along with the induction of legends Bill Meyer, Howard Revell, Wally Kermond, Dennis Newlyn and Ron Krikke into the 2023 Hall of Fame.

Awards to be presented include the Competitor of the Year for Open Wheel, Sedans, Modifieds and Karts along with the Junior Competitor and Overall Sportsperson of the Year.

Marshall/Volunteer, Innovation/Promotional Item, Media Person/Group/Outlet, Photographer, Most Improved Track, and Track of the Year will also be announced, setting the tone for an emotional night, as the highest achievers across the sport are acknowledged for their inspirational efforts.

The new initiative to announce the Hall of Fame inductees prior to the dinner has created an unprecedented buzz around the event, inspired by some emotion filled surprise announcements on Speedway Australia’s Facebook page. The videos have garnered a staggering 400,000 reach, receiving 60,000 likes and over 1000 comments across the five videos.

Speedway Australia CEO Darren Tindal was amazed by the outpouring of emotion from the initiative.

“To see these legends honoured like they have has been amazing. We stand on the shoulders of people like our Hall of Famers and we’re determined to keep building a culture that honours the people who have built our sport, and I can’t wait for the official inductions on June 3.”

Tickets for the event can be found at www.speedwayawards.org.
