Speedweek Kicks Off

Boxing Night at Adelaide Motorsports Park sees the 30th Anniversary World Series Sprintcars kick back into life, with a star-studded lineup hitting the track. The action steps up a notch for the frantic five nights in South Australia and Victoria, with more prizemoney, longer A-Mains, and a separate Speedweek winners purse.

Chasing the $10,000 A-Main winners cheque on Boxing Night are 30 confirmed nominations as of Weds 21 December, with more expected to put their names forward in the days before Xmas. Leading the charge is reigning Knoxville Nationals Champion Jason Johnson, who already as three Speedweek titles under his belt in 2007, 2010 and 2011. Last year’s Speedweek Champion is also the current World Series Sprintcars Champion, and Jamie Veal starts the week in the best form via his win at Max’s race in Warrnambool last weekend. He trails James McFadden in the currently World Series standings by just 19 points, with Brooke Tatnell another 22 back. McFadden and Tatnell both have two Speedweeks under their belts, with former winners Steven Lines and Luke Dillon also ready to hoover up a fair share of the spoils.
